Raechelle Devereaux is Guelph’s Provincial Liberal Candidate
Raechelle is a community champion with a professional career that has always put the health and wellness of our community front and centre. As the Chief Executive Officer of the Guelph Community Health Centre (Guelph CHC), she leads a highly respected organization with a focus on equitable access to health care.
In 2019, Raechelle was recognized as one of Guelph’s Women of Distinction for her outstanding contributions to our City, and in 2015 she was recognized provincially as an Emerging Health Leader, acknowledging her excellence in leading community-based health and wellbeing.
Raechelle is a comprehensive problem-solver who has led the design and implementation of numerous community-based solutions. Under her leadership, Guelph CHC is addressing key community issues such as food insecurity (through The SEED), housing and homelessness (by supporting Permanent Supportive Housing projects) and early childhood experiences (through the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) Coalition).
Raechelle has played an integral role in Guelph’s COVID-19 response for equity-seeking populations, including the design and implementation of the Supported Isolation Centre, which met the need for community members who were homeless to have a safe place to quarantine.
Raechelle is also passionate about working with a variety of community stakeholders for comprehensive and science and research-based solutions to address mental health and addictions, poverty, anti-oppression and anti-racism.
Raechelle is an alumnus of the University of Guelph with an Honours degree in International Development (2000), and a Master’s Degree from Wilfrid Laurier in Social Work (2009). Her staff of close to 150 physicians, nurses, outreach and allied health workers have some of the highest scores of staff engagement and satisfaction under her trusted leadership.
When she’s not working, Raechelle can be found running through Guelph neighbourhoods and trails, volunteering on the soccer field, watching her two sons Charles (13) and Matthew (11) at the hockey rink, or petting cats and reading novels with her daughter Emelia (8).
She will proudly represent the interests of the Guelph community and businesses with a strong and informed voice within a Liberal Government at Queen’s Park.
