Raechelle is a well-respected community leader with a 20-year track record of championing community-based change to improve the lives of Guelph residents.
Raechelle is a community champion with a professional career that has always put the health and wellness of our community front and centre.
A word that best describes Raechelle’s approach to problem-solving is “comprehensive” – as she knows that we must respond to the urgent needs and crises’ in our community, while creating a strong and inclusive economic recovery. Raechelle’s expertise will also help the Province design and build research-based programs that will help prevent the problems and crisis’ from happening in the first place.
She is an alumnus of the University of Guelph, with an Honours degree in International Development (2000), and a Master’s Degree from Wilfrid Laurier in Social Work (2009).
When she’s not working, Raechelle can be found running through Guelph neighbourhoods and trails, volunteering on the soccer field, watching her two sons Charles (13) and Matthew (11) at the hockey rink, or petting cats and reading novels with her daughter Emelia (8).
In her career to date, Raechelle has led the design and implementation of numerous community-based solutions that have improved health and wellbeing in Guelph, addressing issues such as:
- equitable access to health care
- food insecurity
- early childhood experiences
- housing and homelessness
- mental health and addictions
- anti-oppression and anti-racism
Today, Raechelle is the Chief Executive Officer of the Guelph Community Health Centre (Guelph CHC), a respected organization with a focus on equitable access to health care. The close to 150 Guelph CHC physicians, nurses, community developers, early childhood educators, and allied community health care staff have some of the highest scores of staff engagement and satisfaction under Raechelle’s trusted leadership.
As CEO, in addition to leading a multi-disciplinary staff team, she is accountable for complex budget management, government relations, policy development and advocacy.
Ontario – and Guelph – need Raechelle’s on the ground health and social services expertise, along with her courageous problem-solving skills now more than ever, as we continue to respond to a relentless pandemic, followed by the giant feat of guiding our province’s post-pandemic recovery.
Raechelle is a strong, informed and confident voice for our community. She will bring the interests of Guelph to Queens Park, and as part of a Liberal government, will bring good policy from the Ontario legislature to Guelph.
